How To Introduce Your Business On Instagram – What I Failed At
How To Introduce Your Business On Instagram
Are you new to Instagram? Wondering how to introduce your business on Instagram? Well in this post we will discuss the best ways to start posting on Instagram.
So why use Instagram for business purposes. First of its one of the most popular social media platforms. Just think about all the potential customers that you might be missing if you’re not using Instagram in your business.
I will say I underutilized Instagram. I focused on Facebook, Snapchat, Pinterest and some other social media sites because that’s what I learned and heard will help me grow my business. But I never really loved going to all the social media sites every day, thinking of a post and understanding the platform. I personally just like Instagram and Facebook. So once I realized I should focus on a few platforms instead of all, I took off with Instagram because I love the platform and my audience is on there.
This was a game changer because I have fun every day making stories to share with you.
And you should think about this for your business as well. Is this a platform you love and want to grow your audience on?
If You Haven’t Set Up Your Account
So if you’re new and wonder about the Instagram business login its the same Instagram app. But if you haven’t switched your personal profile to a business profile you will miss out on analytics.
Which having access your analytics allows you to know who your audience is and how your posts are performing. Of course, you can always create a new Instagram business account if you don’t want to switch your personal profile but that is completely your choice.
How To Start Using Instagram
So what if you’re like this Instagram thing is overwhelming, I’m too nervous, I don’t know enough… honestly, it’s okay. Most people go through these thoughts whenever they start something new.
Think about anything you start, it takes you a few times to get the hang of it or even comfortable doing it.
So of course when you think of how to introduce your business on Instagram you can psych yourself out because you want it to be perfect and not even start if you over think it.
So don’t over think it, just take action and do it.
How To Introduce Your Business On Instagram Professionally
Let’s talk about how to introduce your business on Instagram in a professional way but yet put your own twist to it.
You’ll want to fill out your Instagram bio section first. You can fill out an entrepreneur Instagram bio if that is your lane. But if your in health, beauty, fitness, whatever business you’re in your Instagram profile should reflect you and what you can do for your customers.
Your Instagram bios and Instagram business categories can be found in the edit profile section.
Think about it one of the first things people see when they go to your profile is your bio.
Why Not Make It Stand Out and Catch Visitors Attention
Do you think creating Instagram bios for business can be overwhelming?
Or think it’s just not perfect, like the top influencer you follow?
It’s okay, I’ve totally gone through these feelings. For so long I was so afraid to directly say what I did because I was scared of what others would say. Or if people would think my information is weak and average. I was afraid people wouldn’t like me.
To be honest I realized my thoughts were weak and average for even thinking that and it was holding me back from being successful.
If I never actually said what I thought or took action on what I thought, then I wouldn’t know what I know today. And this blog post you’re reading wouldn’t be shared because my fears used to hold me back. But that’s kind of selfish too because I know things that could actually help someone in their business.
This will be the same case for your business, you have something valuable that could help someone, make a difference in their lives. So if you’re not sharing this with people who could use your product or service in a way you’re being selfish.
So when it comes to writing your Instagram bio just put something out there and continue to edit it and fix it as you find out more things and discover more about your audience.
One last note on this fear thing..there are going to be people who dislike you and people who love you… and I go through the same thing…
Just remember those negative haters, hate themselves more.
Side Note: What I’ve Learned…
I started making videos 5 years ago. But of course, the first video took as 50 takes and it came off really ridged and overly formal. If you have subscribed to my channel or follow my blog posts you know that I have no shame in leaving up my old content for you to look at.
Why do I do this?
Because I want you to see where I started, how I have grown and see the vision for the future. 🙂
What I’m sharing is a little embarrassing for me because I’ve learned more over the years and want to redo certain things, like my video. Because some of them are pretty bad. LOL
But I realized who cares, I learned from posting this and sharing this information, and I hope you learned from it or my mistakes.
So after struggling with my own fears and negative thoughts… I kept going, learning and growing my mind…low and behold after I said: “F%$K It, I’m just going to do this.”
I started posting continuous videos and blog posts people started reaching out and connecting with me.
It’s funny how things change when your mental attitude changes.
It was such a great feeling having so many positive reviews on the content I was sharing. It means so much to me knowing I was helping someone in their business.
So thank you if you’ve sent me a message or left a comment or shared my content, THANK YOU you are amazing! And I love you for it!
Let’s Backtrack To How To Introduce Your Business on Instagram
Now let’s say you’re making your first Instagram post for business purposes. Think about your audience.
Who are they?
What do they like?
What are they interested in?
If you ask yourself, will my audience find this entertaining, helpful, or does it evoke emotion?
Then you have put your mind in your potential customer’s mind which is important.
Yes, of course, you want to have your twist on it and your style but if all you do is post things for you. Then its really not going to help you build a following.
Always remember people do things for them…not for you. So if people decide to follow you on Instagram then they did this because something brought them value, something made them want to come back to your page. They didn’t follow you, just for you.
Does that make sense?

For many years I have just kept telling myself that I’m too old for instagram and it’s for kids and people in their 20s. My average customer in my business is in their 40s or 50s so do you think it will be worth my while taking my business onto Instagram . Are there enough potential customers in that age range to make it a good use of my time.
I didn’t realise you could promote your business on instagram so I am now taking an interest if I think my potential customers would be there
I personally like Instagram because of how simple it is. And it is super easy to connect with your audience.
But to answer your question I would have to know what you’re selling?
I will say Instagrams highest users are ages between 18-34.
Your audience is there but I will say it depends on what you’re selling….
This is where I got the stats from if you want to look more into it:

Hi Christina, I must say that this article is very helpful and informative. Lately, I hear more and more people start using Instagram for their businesses but I never took that step of making an account. I am currently focused on Pinterest as it also brings in pretty nice results. May I ask how long does it take to start seeing results from Instagram regarding traffic?
I’m so glad to hear you found this informative!
Yes, Pinterest is great… but I don’t focus my time on there.
To be honest, if you’re on Instagram and post consistently using hashtags (related to your audience) it will grow consistency.
Of course, nothing happens overnight, but you will see followers, likes and messages start to come when you continuously post and engage with your target market.
I would say the stories are my favorite feature.
Does this answer your question…
What did you do to determine that your target audience uses Instagram more than the other social media sites? It can be a waste of time for a beginner to promote a business to a social media audience that is not interested. I think it would be frustrating for a newbie to put a lot of effort into an Instagram account when their target audience is elsewhere. Thanks, Christina.
Yes, Glen, I would completely agree with you! If someone’s audience isn’t there it would be a complete waste of time.
So as to answer your question to “how did I know my target audience uses Instagram…”
I know I wanted to use the top social media sites so I went through the top 10…
1. I looked at some competitors, and figured out where they were and focused most of there efforts on.
2. I actually went into Instagram and used the search and typed in specific words my audience might use. And there were lots of results and searches. And looked at the profiles and saw my audience was there. You can use words your audience would use to determine if they are there…
I did some other things but that’s a start…
I will say I do use Facebook and YouTube those are the main social media platforms I focus on… I know my audience is on Pinterest … but you don’t want to spread yourself to thin. Otherwise, you can neglect your current followers.
